What we understand

We understand the challenges involved with commercial electrical work

Your premises has a job to do. Staff need light and power to work, customers need the doors open, pupils need classrooms, and kitchens need to serve. Electrical work that gets in the way of any of that costs you more than the invoice does.

We also understand what sits behind the decision to appoint a contractor at all. You are responsible for the people in the building, for the premises staying open, and for being able to show your insurer, your landlord or your governors that the work was done properly by someone qualified to do it.

That is why we plan the work around your operation first, why we turn up when we said we would, and why the certification is in your hands the moment the job is finished.

Accredited and checked

NICEIC registered and DBS checked, with the scope of every credential set out plainly on our about page.

Completed properly, first time

Work certified to BS 7671, boards labelled, schedules completed, and the installation left in a state the next contractor can understand.

Minimal downtime

Jobs phased, zoned or moved outside your operating hours so your premises keeps trading, teaching or serving while the work happens.

Documented on completion

Certificates and reports handed over when the job finishes, ready for your insurer, your landlord or your governors.

Who you are dealing with

Commercial premises are our specialism

You are the one who has to answer for the building. We are the contractor who has done this often enough to tell you what will actually happen on your site, and to say so before you commit rather than halfway through.

That shows up in practical ways. Knowing that 80 metres of galvanised tray through a school hall needs the towers up and down between bookings. Knowing that a shop unit's track lighting has to be set out before the shopfitter closes the ceiling. Knowing that a commercial kitchen's extract controls and gas interlock have to be right or the kitchen does not open.

We coordinate with facilities managers, site managers, shopfitters, main contractors and business owners, and we would rather have a five-minute conversation about access now than a difficult one on site later.

Commercial electrical services

Commercial electrical services we provide across Surrey

Seven services make up most of our work. If your job spans several of them, that is normal. Say so when you enquire and we will estimate it as one piece of work.

Emergency Lighting in Surrey

Emergency lighting installation, additions and periodic testing, with the certification and logbook entries to match.

Premises we work in

Commercial premises we work in across Surrey

A school, an office floor, a shop unit and a restaurant kitchen all need competent electrical work. What separates them is when you are allowed to do it, who is in the building while you do, and what has to be working again by the time you leave.

Choose the page that matches your premises. Each one covers how we actually approach that type of building rather than repeating the same paragraph four times.

Why commercial clients stay with us

A reputation for efficient, tidy commercial electrical work

A lot of our work comes from clients who have used us before, and from the people they pass us on to. These are the reasons they give.

Efficient on site
We turn up on the day we said, at the time we agreed, and work at a pace that gets your premises back to you quickly.
Minimal disruption
Evenings, early starts, school holidays, phased floors and quiet periods. The programme is built around your operation, not our diary.
Tidy, labelled work
Boards labelled, containment set out properly, and the site handed back in a state you can put people straight back into.
Paperwork on completion
Certification and reports handed over when the job finishes, in a form you can file, forward and act on.

Questions we get asked

Commercial electrician questions from Surrey businesses

The things businesses want settled before they appoint a contractor.

What do Commercial Electricians Surrey specialise in?

Commercial Electricians Surrey specialise in commercial electrical installation, commercial lighting, EICR and fixed wire testing, electrical maintenance and repairs, emergency lighting, commercial rewiring and upgrades, and commercial fire alarm systems.

Commercial Electricians Surrey work in schools, offices, shops, restaurants, cafés, pubs, hotels and other business premises across Surrey. Commercial premises are our specialism, and the way we plan and price work reflects that.

Are Commercial Electricians Surrey NICEIC registered?

Yes. Commercial Electricians Surrey is a NICEIC registered contractor, and our electricians are DBS checked. NICEIC certification is used to document electrical installation, alteration, inspection and testing work carried out to the applicable electrical safety standards.

That is what stands behind the Electrical Installation Certificates, Minor Works Certificates and Electrical Installation Condition Reports we issue. Our about page sets out every accreditation we hold and exactly what each one covers.

Can you work outside our normal opening hours?

Usually, yes, and for a lot of our jobs it is the only sensible option. Shops trade, offices are occupied, kitchens serve and schools teach. We agree the working window with you before the job is priced, so the estimate reflects when the work actually happens rather than assuming a quiet weekday.

Tell us your constraints when you enquire and we will build the programme around them.

What certification do we get when the work is finished?

Installation work is certified to BS 7671. Depending on what we have done that is an Electrical Installation Certificate or a Minor Electrical Installation Works Certificate, and for inspection and testing it is an Electrical Installation Condition Report.

You get the paperwork you need for your records, your insurer and whoever asks to see it, handed over when the work is finished rather than weeks later.

Are your electricians DBS checked?

Yes. That matters most on school and education sites, where you need to know who is on your premises and be able to show your safeguarding lead. It is also useful in any building where the public or vulnerable people are present while we work.

See our school electricians in Surrey page for how we handle education sites specifically.

How much does commercial electrical work cost?

It depends on the scope, the premises and when we can get access, which is why we survey before pricing rather than quoting blind off a phone call. What we can tell you is that the estimate is free, there is no obligation to go ahead, and the figure you get is the figure you can take to whoever signs it off.

If the scope changes once we are on site, you hear about it from us before the work happens, not on the invoice.

Which parts of Surrey do you cover?

Commercial Electricians Surrey covers the county and the boroughs around it, including Guildford, Woking, Weybridge, Epsom, Esher, Leatherhead, Dorking, Redhill, Reigate, Camberley, Farnham, Godalming, Staines-upon-Thames, Walton-on-Thames, Cobham, Addlestone, Chertsey, Egham and Caterham.

If you are just outside the county boundary, ask. It is usually not a problem.
